Into the Spider-Verse

My wife and I just came home after an unplanned movie date.

It’s been a very long time since we last saw a movie with just the two of us, mostly because of the difficulty of leaving our kids some place they can be looked after and kept busy.

Today, we finally got to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It’s an incredible film, and a visually stunning piece of work. You can tell that a lot of thought and hard work went into putting this together. It’s really fascinating. (I think this article from The Guardian did a good job in pointing out what made this film so fresh and appealing despite the many superhero movies that currently dominate the big screen)

You can still catch the movie in IMAX theaters and 3D/4Dx cinemas. Krisha and I watched this in 3D + 4Dx. And while I liked the more immersive experience, I personally could have done without the 4Dx; the moving chairs, flashing lights, and blowing wind easily felt disconcerting after a few minutes. On the other hand, the 3D experience lent itself really well to this movie.

You don’t need to be a comic book geek to enjoy this one. If you still haven’t seen the movie, try and catch it while you still can.
